Whaleback at Dawn
Location: Portsmouth, NH
Date Captured: 9/3/2023 at 6:25am
Description: I woke early on Sunday and thought about a few different locations for a sunrise. I made my best interpretation of the satellite cloud maps and figured I would take the risk and go a little further south to Whaleback Light in Portsmouth, NH. When I arrived, there was a lot more clouds that I had thought there would be, but I could see a faint glow of deep red along the horizon. I thought that if perhaps we will see the sun for a short time before it slipped above the clouds, then that would be good enough for a photo.
The glow on the horizon continued to grow brighter and more vibrant until the sun rose above the horizon. The colors were not of your typical sunrise but were shades of orange, pinks and purples. The sun seems to linger before slipping above the clouds and the colors fading.
ISO800 - 388mm - f/8 - 1/750
